The Johnston County Human Resources Department has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist.
An employee in this class participates in the administration of the areas of employee benefits, relations, leave administration, ADA, retirement and training. This employee is responsible for interpreting and carrying out policies and procedures, and providing consultation and guidance to coordinators of personnel information in other departments. Situations addressed will be both recurring and non-recurring requiring an employee in this class to maintain an awareness of resources available. Work requires tact and courtesy in dealing with employees, departments and the general public. Work is performed under general supervision of the Human Resources Deputy Director.
Administers the county's leave administration programs to include FMLA, Personal Leave, Military Leave, Educational Leave and Disability in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Administers the county’s tuition reimbursement and transfer of time programs; assists with ADA determinations.
Provides consultation and guidance to employees and management regarding employee relations issues and conflict resolution.
Makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions; ensure recommendations are within established policies and procedures. Assists supervisors and managers in writing and/or reviewing disciplinary documentation.Participates in the grievance process for grievances and harassment cases.
Advises employees on retirement benefits, eligibility requirements, and payout estimates; performs benefit calculations and prepares applicable paperwork.
Monitors legislation that affects areas of human resources and recommends changes to ensure compliance.
Assists in development and implementation of personnel policies, standards and programs. Interprets and explains personnel policies, apply policies to specific situations and recommend or initiate personnel actions.
Provides assistance and guidance to departments in regards to EEO compliance as well as other state and federal labor laws. Provide testimony at official proceedings such as unemployment hearings.
Conducts training for various departments; completes projects as needed.
