Human Resources Generalist

Are you someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of HR and being a reliable resource for both employees and supervisors?

Blair Image Elements is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Altoona. In this role, you'll work across all areas of HR-supporting hiring and onboarding, maintaining time and attendance processes, guiding employees and supervisors on policies, and helping ensure a consistent, well-run workplace.

This is a hands-on role with daily interaction across the organization. You'll be a steady point of contact for employees and leaders alike, helping to keep processes moving, questions answered, and systems running smoothly. Due to the nature of the role, this is an on-site position.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support hiring and onboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for new employees
  • Maintain applicant tracking systems and assist with job postings
  • Coordinate onboarding follow-ups, employee check-ins, and engagement initiatives
  • Assist with stay and exit interviews to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on company policies and procedures
  • Support supervisors in addressing attendance, performance, and employee concerns
  • Actively support and guide supervisors through employee relations matters, including attendance issues, disciplinary actions, and investigations
  • Support payroll processing through accurate time and attendance tracking and coordination with payroll
  • Assist with benefit enrollments and general HR administration
  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Support training initiatives by coordinating sessions, reinforcing onboarding programs, and helping ensure consistency across departments
  • Play an active role in improving retention by identifying trends, supporting onboarding follow-ups, and partnering with leadership on engagement efforts
  • Provide regular presence on the production floor to support employees and supervisors directly
  • Provide general administrative support and assist with company events and activities

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related business field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 1 year of HR experience required; 3–5 years preferred
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment where priorities can shift quickly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving mindset with a practical, steady approach
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HR systems quickly
