Summary
The Human Resources Generalist implements and administers all talent management policies and procedures, and facilitates all activities associated with staffing and development of employees. The Human Resources Generalists must promote the mission of Jonti-Craft. He or she will be expected to maintain a comprehensive talent management system to ensure we attract, retain, and develop employees based on our expected growth. This position is based in our corporate offices in Wabasso, Minnesota.
Essential Functions
- Maintains staff by recruiting and interviewing, partnering with managers on candidate selection.
- Facilitates new hire orientation to acclimate employees to Jonti-Craft's culture, policies, and procedures.
- Develops company training programs and/or coordinates training resources.
- Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Recommends compensation strategy and consults on pay-related decisions.
- Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results is completed by management in a fair and consistent manner.
- Assists with employee benefits programs and communication of benefits.
- Oversees company's reward and recognition programs.
- Conducts and analyzes exit interviews results; recommends departmental improvements.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring applicable federal and state requirements and recommending action based on these. Remains aware of developments in the human resources field and provides recommendations on these.
- Conducts investigations, maintains documentation, and represents the organization at hearings.
- Recommends employee handbook updates on a periodic basis to ensure that it is compliant with legislative requirements and organizational practices.
- Interprets and enforces policies and provides coaching and direction to managers as needed.
- Works with Safety Director to assist with the company safety and compliance programs.
- Assists with the workers' compensation program for the company.
- Monitors EEOC guidelines and submits related records and agencies. Responds to any complaints filed.
- Conducts Human Resource Department meetings on a regular basis.
- Stays current on changes and developments in Human Resources and provides recommendations to management personnel on applicability.
- Establishes a Human Resource Department Strategic Plan with annual updates.
- Attends management meetings and helps in achieving organizational objectives.

Qualifications
- HR certification preferred.
- Bachelors in related field preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of HR experience, manufacturing preferred.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Strong background in recruiting and staffing.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws.
- Performance management experience required.
- Compensation experience required.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to handle difficult or emotional internal and external customer needs and situations.
- Strong sense of urgency.

- Excellent knowledge of the full suite of Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.

Working conditions
Our office environment is a typical office environment and does not substantially expose workers to adverse environmental conditions. The position will require frequent visits to the shop floor. Our production environment includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold.
Physical requirements
Office positions are usually sedentary. The employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. Ability to sit for long periods of time is required. The noise level in the office is typically quiet to moderate. Occasional brief trips to the production floor may be required.
