We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who excels in benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and employee relations. The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees while ensuring operational excellence across core HR functions. This position plays a critical role in supporting a compliant, employee-focused, and high-performing organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary administrator of all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries, enrollment support, and complex claims resolution.
- Partner with external vendors and brokers to ensure compliance and program effectiveness.
- Assist with benefits renewals, open enrollment, and employee education initiatives.
Leave Administration & Compliance
- Manage all aspects of leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, disability, workers’ compensation, and other statutory or company leaves.
- Guide managers and employees through complex leave and accommodation situations with professionalism and discretion.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Serve as a trusted resource for managers and employees on workplace matters.
- Support performance management processes, including goal setting, development planning, and performance improvement plans.
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and fairness.
HR Systems & Data Integrity
- Maintain and optimize the HRIS.
- Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system configuration aligns with business needs.
- Generate reports and support HR analytics initiatives.
Engagement & Recognition
- Lead the development and execution of recognition programs that celebrate performance, milestones, and contributions across all levels of the organization.
- Plan and oversee credit union–wide employee events and initiatives that strengthen culture, collaboration, and morale.
Payroll & Recruiting Support
- Serve as backup payroll processor, ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution when required.
- Provide backup recruiting support, partnering with hiring managers to screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and ensure an efficient and positive candidate experience.
Regulatory & Policy Compliance
- Maintain working knowledge of employment laws and regulations including FMLA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and Affirmative Action.
- Ensure policies remain compliant and up to date.
- Educate managers on HR best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Comply with all credit union policies including BSA/AML/CIP/OFAC requirements.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field required. PHR, SHRM-CP strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in benefits administration and leave management.
- Experience supporting employee relations and performance management processes.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and HR compliance reporting.
- Technical Expertise: Strong HRIS experience required; UKG Pro experience preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience generating HR reports.

Working Environment & Physical Demands
- Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 8 hours per day and be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
