Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Human Resources Generalist in our Cleveland office! This position is hybrid and has work from home flexibility.

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting the firm's people strategy across a growing, multi-office environment. This role combines traditional HR responsibilities with a strong focus on learning and development initiatives for support staff. The HR Generalist will partner with firm leadership and HR colleagues to deliver impactful learning programs, strengthen managerial development efforts, and drive firmwide staff performance management. Additionally, this role contributes to employee relations, onboarding, and integration initiatives to enhance the overall employee experience.

Essential Functions:

1. Serves as a highly-visible HR partner for employees and managers across the firm, providing direct guidance on employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and policy interpretation.

2. Partners with department leaders and hiring managers in support of candidate selection, including interviewing candidates, assessing fit, and providing input into hiring decisions.

3. Conducts new hire check‑ins at the 30, 60, and 90‑day milestones to ensure a successful integration experience, identify development needs, and foster early engagement.

4. Participates in the offboarding process by conducting exit interviews, reports on themes and trends and supports a smooth transition experience.

5. Partners with leadership to identify skill and competency gaps among support staff and recommends learning and development initiatives that build capability and confidence.

6. Administers the firm's annual performance management process for support staff, including communications, training for managers, cycle coordination, and follow‑up to ensure consistency and quality.

7. Manages the design, coordination, and evaluation of firm‑wide learning programs for support staff, including workshops, skill‑building sessions, and professional development opportunities.

8. Administers the firm's SkillPath learning subscription, including user setup, curation of recommended learning paths by role/level, and regular reporting on enrollments, completions and utilization trends to HR leadership.

9. Partners with managers to promote SkillPath content aligned to performance and development goals, monitoring course completion and incorporating learning data into talent discussions and coaching conversations.

10. Coordinates the Bundle 1:1 coaching program end-to-end, tracking enrollment, session utilization and feedback, and escalating low participation to department leaders.

11. Generates key takeaways, themes and future development opportunities upon an individual's completion of the individual coaching program.

12. Designs and facilitates HR-specific and managerial trainings that can be delivered via the firm's LMS platform.

13. Tracks training engagement and assures all training records are thorough and stored properly.

14. Supports the design and implementation of career pathing frameworks for support staff, helping define competencies, growth criteria, and development plans that promote retention and advancement.

15. Leads or assists with employee engagement and organizational development initiatives such as onboarding enhancements, culture surveys, recognition programs, and change‑management projects.

16. Provides coaching and consultative support to managers on employee relations, performance improvement, and engagement strategies to foster a high‑performance culture.

17. Collaborates with HR colleagues to ensure alignment across initiatives and a consistent employee experience throughout all Benesch offices.

18. Stays informed on best practices in learning, performance management, and organizational development, sharing recommendations to strengthen the firm's people programs.

19. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

The Human Resources Generalist should hold a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field, with a SHRM or HRCI certification preferred. A minimum of five years of progressive human resources experience, including at least two to three years focused on learning and development, training, or organizational development. The candidate will have proven experience conducting interviews, managing performance processes, and facilitating employee development within a professional services or multi-office environment. A strong understanding of employee relations, coaching principles, and performance management in a professional services setting is essential. The role requires outstanding interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills, along with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, as well as familiarity with learning or talent development platforms, is expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of discretion, sound judgment, and integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information.

The salary range for this position is $77K to $95K.

Please note that quoted salary ranges are based on Benesch's good faith belief at the time of the job posting and are not a guarantee of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that Benesch provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full-time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
