Acoustical Sheetmetal is seeking a dynamic and HR Generalist II to play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our Human Resources department. This position is key to ensuring a positive and productive workplace, where employees feel supported and policies are consistently upheld. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about people and ready to contribute to a growing, hardworking team. The hours for this position are 11am – 9pm, Monday through Thursday. The candidate will provide HR support for our second shift employees. The role will require flexibility to support both of our manufacturing plants located in Virginia Beach as needed.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for all second-shift employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Conduct independent investigations into employee complaints, conflicts, or policy violations and findings thoroughly.
  • Coach supervisors and leads on performance management, corrective actions, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Support conflict resolution efforts and help maintain a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Facilitate second-shift onboarding, orientation, and new-hire paperwork to ensure compliance and a smooth start.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, employment laws, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor attendance trends, turnover, and workforce planning needs; escalate issues proactively.
  • Assist employees with benefits questions, enrollment issues, and leave-of-absence processes.
  • Review and validate timekeeping records for second-shift employees; resolve discrepancies with supervisors.
  • Support return-to-work processes and accommodations in coordination with HR leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, and at least 4-6 years’ experience in human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Desired Qualifications

  • HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or the ability to obtain certifications.
