The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist II, under general supervision, will serve as a key human resources contact by serving departments to their ongoing staffing and hiring business process needs. Collaborates with all hiring departments to assist with programs, services, and solutions specifically for recruiting, staffing, hiring and onboarding top talent for faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student workers.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary point of contact by proactively collaborating with hiring managers to identify all staffing and hiring needs. Completes the hiring and onboarding business processes to include all hiring components.  Coordinates job offers through the hiring department and participates in new employee onboarding.  Creates offer letters and assists in ensuring appropriate compensation per the System-Wide Pay Plan and/or other established compensation guidelines.  

  • Processes all position and staffing actions to include, but not limited to, reclassifications, data changes and other staffing related actions as needed. Creates and maintains employee personnel files in the records management system so that the completed records are filed in its final location within the set timeline.

  • Assists with the development of recruiting and sourcing strategies to generate candidate flow of top talent.  Reviews and initiates position requests, writes effective job advertisements, and posts job vacancies for all positions in the required HRIS and Applicant Tracking System. Monitors job postings within the Applicant Tracking System to process selected candidates for employment and ensure candidates meet minimum qualifications for positions.

  • Tracks staffing vacancies and hires to ensure candidates are hired timely. Complies and reviews raw data for the development of key HR metrics such as time to fill, essential hiring data, onboarding status and others on an ongoing basis and as needed.  

  • Tracks and certifies re-verifications for Form I – 9 regulations compliance and changes in work authorizations. Process name changes, status changes and other HR related actions in the required HRIS.

  • Assists with developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, hiring and onboarding guidelines, web content, instructions, tutorials and other communications on recruiting, hiring, onboarding and best practices. Conducts training and presentations for departmental managers and staff.

  • Coordinates various student employment programming and hiring initiatives as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • One year of related experience.  

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Knowledge of HR principles. Knowledge of FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with a wide range of personalities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources Management.

  • Three or more years of human resources related experience.

  • PHR or SHRM – CP.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated work experience with applying knowledge on applicable employment laws and practices to provide consultation to clients on best practices and solutions.

  • Experience working in Higher Education.

  • Experience working within the Texas A&M System and/or use of programs including Workday, Banner, and Laserfiche.
