About the Role

At Island H2O Water Park, we create high-energy, guest-focused experiences where our team members are at the heart of every unforgettable moment.

We are seeking a high-impact Human Resources Generalist who will serve as the on-site HR leader for the park, owning full-cycle recruiting while driving employee relations, engagement, and operational HR excellence.

This role operates at a strategic and leadership level, acting as the primary HR partner to park leadership and influencing culture, talent strategy, and workforce performance.

This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments, enjoys hiring and managing seasonal workforces, and excels at balancing recruiting with employee experience and compliance.

What You'll Do

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Strategy (Primary Focus)

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for all park roles, including lifeguards, guest services, food & beverage, operations, maintenance, and seasonal staff.
  • Develop and execute high-volume hiring strategies across platforms such as Indeed, LinkedIn, local job fairs, schools, and community partnerships.
  • Build a compelling employer brand that attracts top talent in a competitive seasonal labor market.
  • Partner with department leaders to forecast seasonal and peak staffing needs and improve hiring outcomes.
  • Conduct and guide interviews (phone, virtual, in-person) while coaching managers on effective selection practices.
  • Manage offer processes, including pay recommendations and hiring decisions.
  • Track key recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, applicant flow, hiring conversion rates, and retention of seasonal employees.
  • Design and execute onboarding programs that drive fast ramp-up and strong employee engagement.

Employee Relations & Culture Leadership

  • Serve as the trusted HR advisor and employee advocate for all park team members.
  • Manage employee relations matters including investigations, conflict resolution, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Foster a fun, inclusive, and high-performance culture that aligns with a guest-first mentality.
  • Partner with leadership to identify engagement trends and drive retention strategies, particularly for seasonal staff.
  • Support performance management processes including feedback, disciplinary actions, and recognition programs.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, especially those related to youth employment, seasonal workers, and wage/hour regulations.
  • Manage HRIS systems, employee records, reporting, and documentation.
  • Oversee onboarding, I-9 compliance, and employee file management.
  • Support benefits administration (for eligible staff) and offboarding processes.
  • Maintain HR policies and ensure consistent application across all departments.
  • Partner with operations leaders to reinforce safety protocols and labor compliance standards.

Property-Level HR Leadership

  • Act as the lead HR representative on-site, functioning as a strategic partner to park leadership.
  • Influence workforce planning, labor allocation, and scheduling strategies to meet operational demands.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors on people leadership, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Lead HR initiatives that directly impact guest experience, employee retention, and operational success.
  • Collaborate with corporate HR while maintaining ownership of day-to-day HR execution at the park level.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong emphasis on full-cycle recruiting.
  • Experience in hospitality, theme parks, attractions, retail, or other high-volume environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing or supporting seasonal or hourly workforces is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to operate independently as the lead HR presence on-site and influence leadership decisions.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

Why Join Island H2O Water Park?

  • Be the on-site HR leader shaping culture and talent in a high-energy entertainment environment.
  • Own and lead high-volume recruiting strategy, especially for seasonal hiring cycles.
  • Gain experience in strategic HR leadership beyond a traditional Generalist role.
  • Work in a fun, dynamic setting where team experience directly impacts guest satisfaction.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

Position Impact

This role is critical to the success of the park, ensuring the attraction, retention, and development of a strong workforce while maintaining a safe, compliant, and engaging workplace that delivers exceptional guest experiences.
