GENERAL SUMMARY:

The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel human resources functions across multiple offices. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can manage day-to-day HR operations, support employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment laws and firm policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for staff and legal professionals
  • Support onboarding and orientation processes for new hires
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns
  • Support conflict resolution and promote a positive workplace culture
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across jurisdictions
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee communications
  • Support payroll processing and compensation reviews
  • Support annual review processes and performance improvement plans
  • Contribute to HR initiatives such as policy updates, wellness programs, and employee engagement strategies
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies when handling sensitive information.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging trends

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a professional services or legal environment
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite, iSolved preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
