Riverview School is an independent coeducational boarding/day school, providing a caring community and learning environment for adolescents and young adults with complex language, learning and cognitive disabilities.
We are seeking a part-time Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our staff and ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions. The ideal candidate will have a broad and demonstrated understanding of HR functions and best practices; will have an exceptionally strong attention to detail, and be a highly organized, flexible multi-tasker who can meet deadlines. Must handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. This is an in-person, onsite role, approximately 20- 25 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities to include:
- Provide guidance to staff and leadership on a variety of HR-related matters
- Perform administrative tasks required to administer and execute human resource programming
- Manage the full recruitment and employment life-cycle, from job postings to outreach and onboarding new hires. Exit interviews and offboarding departing staff.
- Support employee benefits programs, including processing enrollments, terminations, COBRA.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Responsible for conducting background checks and other compliance coordination and tracking
- Manage updates to internal policies to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
- Serve as a contact for leaves of absence, including PFML, FMLA, and ADA accommodations.
- Provide support for employee housing and H-1B visa programs
- Provide support for employee relations matters
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree preferred.
- 3โ5 years of progressive HR experience.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and ADP Workforce Now.
- Comfort navigating a variety of sites: benefit carriers, PFML, unemployment, background checks etc.
- Excellent communication skills, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
Requirements:
- Suitable background check (CORI, SORI, DCF) and fingerprinting required
- Valid driverโs license and ability to travel between local Riverview locations as needed.
