Position Summary:  We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist (Generalist) who will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. Their duties include comparing HR laws to current policies and procedures, drafting templates for HR documents and working with other members of the department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for company employees. Generalist screens, recruits, interviews and places workers. Generalist trains, on-boards, and help guide new employees through the complicated process of benefits and compensation. Generalist represents both the employee and the organization and handles employee relations. Human Resources Generalists ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations for HR.  

Qualifications: Our ideal candidate for our Generalist position will meet the criteria below: 

  • Education- High School/GED required, bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.  

  • Certifications: N/A required, HRCI/SHRM HR professional certification preferred. 

Salary: (Exempt) 

Starting Pay Range is $ 56,492.80- $ 72,633.60 (Calculation based on salary rate of $56,492.80+ Locale Differential of $5,200.00). Compensation considers preferred experience and preferred education as described above/below. There is a locale differential at our Durango worksites.

Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have the ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employees must be able to travel between Axis Health System locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. Required Skills:  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field.

  • Demonstrate ability to be a self-starter, self-motivator and possess exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills with the ability to inspire and model collaborative leadership. 

  • The ability to communicate clearly, concisely (both orally and written) with staff members, the public and other audiences. 

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in an occasionally hectic environment with frequent interruptions. 

  • Capable of independent judgment and action. 

  • Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone.  

  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet.  

  • Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while respecting corporate policies, procedures, and priorities. 

  • Ability to read and understand written materials. 

  • Must regard work as confidential. 

  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary. 

  • Occasional travel required. 

  • Must have a current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance, and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis Health System’s insurance agency.
