We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our firm, in support of our Legal departments.
Position Overview The Human Resources Manager at Cohen Law Group deals with all facets of Human Resources playing a key role in supporting and strengthening our people’s operations. The HR Manager is responsible for managing core HR functions, including recruiting top talent, overseeing onboarding and training programs, maintaining complaints with labor laws and supporting performance and benefits programs. This role will also help shape and refine company policies, drive a culture of transparency and continuous improvement, and serve as a key resource for both employees and leadership. This position requires a great deal of emotional intelligence, customer service and willingness to wear many hats.
Key Responsibilities
Find qualified candidates, interview top talent, and onboard and train new employees
Hold exit interviews with employees and record their feedback to optimize our policies and procedures
Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures, and advise on improvements
Make sure internal documents, paperwork, reports, and records are accurate and up-to-date
Lead and execute effective talent acquisition and recruitment processes
Design employee onboarding; organize training development initiatives
Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics, such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
Maintain secure employee files/records in compliance with federal and state law
Ensure compliance with labor regulations
Assist in development, auditing, and implementation of human resource policies; ensure the employee handbook is acknowledged by all employees as updated
Administer, evaluate, and review compensation and benefit plans
Help develop and facilitate an effective quarterly performance management system built around KPIs and metric tracking
Guide leadership through employee performance interventions, from verbal warnings to termination, using progressive discipline when appropriate
Promote proactive programs that create an efficient, healthy, and conflict-free workplace
Assist with payroll management functions
Qualifications
Hold a bachelor’s degree in HR management, business management, or a similar field
3-5 years of experience as an HR manager, upper-level HR generalist or in a senior position in HR management
Demonstrate strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Experience with payroll and benefits administration
Experience with recruitment
Law Firm experience a plus but not required
Work Environment and Physical Requirements This role operates in a professional office setting. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The work environment is generally quiet to moderate in noise level. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times. Ability to focus and perform detailed accounting tasks for extended periods. Schedule/Hours Cohen Law Group Business hours are 8:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. Eastern Time. This is a fully in-office position.
