The Job:  

The Tools & Outdoor team is seeking a Human Resources Manager onsite the East Longmeadow Manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the HR Department. Successful incumbent will manage HR programs, Talent Development and policies & procedures for the business. Responsibilities include strong positive employee relations, effective communication, training & development, safety, benefits. You’ll get to:

  • Provides full range of day-to-day HR support for the business unit including staffing, recruiting/onboarding, employee relations, performance management, organizational development, benefits, compensation, and training & development.
  • Represent employee advocacy and strong business partner relations and reinforces and advocates.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to resolve employee relations issues as they arise; Counsels employees to improve or correct performance issues and deficiencies; Reviews all corrective actions with supervisors prior to administering.
  • Ensures Employee Relations tracker is maintained. Provides updates to Supervisors on employee relations cases.
  • Advises leadership concerning HR matters, recommend programs, activities, goals, and procedural changes as required.
  • Lead thorough investigations.
  • Provides the appropriate staffing levels to meet manpower requirements, for both hourly and salaried personnel; involved with all phases of the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Developing and implementing effective human resource policies and programs to assist in the maximization of productivity in achieving site goals and objectives.
  • Promotes positive relations between the Company and the community to drive good corporate citizenship.
  • Identifies local communication needs and implements programs to ensure that an effective communication program is carried out.
  • Works cohesively with all functional organizations (at all levels) to deliver expected results consistently.
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
  • Establish regular training cadence for salaried and hourly employee training as needed, including but not limited to onboarding Unconscious Bias.
  • Perform training for Supervisors and HR team members.
  • Oversee Training program. Ensure training documents are created, reviewed and finalized. Including Train-the-Trainer sessions to help site meet training initiatives.
  • Ensuring Kahuna is updated to meet requirements of the ISO-90001 audit and CT-PAT.
  • Ensuring employees benefit/payroll/LOA issues are addressed.
  • Prepare reports and metrics to measure human resource related functions such as collecting and reporting out on statistical data such as turnover, diversity, new hires, transfers etc. for monthly and quarterly review; responsible for publishing monthly headcount reports to finance and monthly PTO reports to site leadership.
  • Communicates difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Ensure HR Team delivers results to customers in the efficient way.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of Human Resource experience
  • Experience within a manufacturing/distribution environment preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to manage across functions at various levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Power Point and Excel to create presentations and spreadsheets
