Position: Manager, Human Resources Location: Sioux FallsJob Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, Human Resources to oversee the day-to-day operations of our HR functions, with a primary focus on employee relations, leave management, benefits administration, and payroll processing. In this role, you will manage a direct report responsible for employee relations and leave management while administering benefits and payroll. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive work environment, fostering employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:- Manage and provide guidance to a direct report responsible for handling employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct investigations on complex or high-risk cases ensuring fair and consistent handling of the investigations.
- Ensure a fair and consistent approach to employee relations, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Manage and provide guidance to a direct report responsible for the administration of employee leave programs (e.g., FMLA, sick leave, personal leave), ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations issues, providing support and resolution strategies.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other employee benefits offerings.
- Collaborate with benefits brokers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of benefits services to employees.
- Manage open enrollment processes, ensuring employees are well-informed about benefits options and available resources.
- Provide guidance to employees on benefits-related inquiries and issues, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure payroll is processed smoothly, resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and other payroll-related requirements in partnership with the finance team.
- Provide support for payroll-related inquiries and concerns, acting as the point of contact for employees and leadership.
- Stay up to date on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to ensure company policies and practices are compliant.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to employee relations, leave management, benefits, and payroll, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Assist in audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained for all HR processes, including benefits enrollment, payroll, and leave records.
- Provide ongoing training to HR staff and other stakeholders on HR policies, benefits, payroll processes, and employee relations best practices.
- Build strong relationships with employees and managers, promoting a collaborative and supportive HR function.
- Launch and support the performance eval cycles including providing management with assistance and coaching including administering the bonus/merit cycle(s).
Education & Other Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in employee relations, with a focus on handling complex investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Strong experience with administering employee benefits programs and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Experience in full-cycle payroll processing and managing payroll-related compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing direct reports in HR or a related function.
- Familiarity with managing employee leave programs (e.g., FMLA, sick leave, personal leave).
- Strong background in leading and coordinating open enrollment.
- Advanced knowledge of employee relations, labor laws, and best practices related to workplace conflict, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
- Strong payroll knowledge, ensuring compliance with tax laws and wage and hour regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex policies in simple terms.
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and foster positive relationships within the workplace.
- Project management and multitasking skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver results within deadlines.
- Proficient in HR systems (e.g., ATS, HRIS, payroll systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to coach and mentor junior HR staff and provide ongoing training to ensure development and adherence to best practices.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and confidentiality.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a focus on achieving results and continuous improvement.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve HR and organizational goals.
- Adaptability to stay current with changes in HR laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and best practices.
