Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with management and senior leadership to support and align the business operations and the HR practices for a business unit(s) within a geographic region. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for employee relations, labor relations, maintaining an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance of any and all applicable employment laws within their assigned market(s).
This role is primarily remote but does require 1 day per week in-office. Candidates must reside in the 10-county Denver-Aurora-Centennial MSA or Douglas, Broomfield or Boulder County.
What you will do:
Support leadership with human resource planning and decision making related to people and the business
Work closely with multiple work groups ranging from media, sales, production, and circulation
Work with multiple Unions and different business agents
Provide feedback and counsel to managers and supervisors on employee concerns, performance improvement plans and discipline
Conduct end to end internal investigations; prepare thorough summation of findings and recommendations on outcomes
Work with internal HR partners including Benefits, Payroll, and HRIS
Support and develop various HR initiatives
Advise and train managers and supervisors in strategies for supporting and managing people
Collaborate with leadership on matters of policy and practice
Collaborate with legal counsel as appropriate
Work directly with employees at all levels
Operate with the utmost strict confidentiality
What you will bring:
Union experience managing comprehensive personnel functions while navigating collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), grievance procedures, and labor relations
Strong Time Management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable employment law, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
Thorough understanding of dispute resolution
Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
Knowledgeable in Excel and other MS Office software, and Google Suite intermediate knowledge
Ability to work on multiple concerns simultaneously, excellent time management skills
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; SHRM-CP preferred
3-5 years of HR Manager experience; Publication and/or Media preferred
Benefits and Compensation:
The salary range is $95,000 - $100,000 + cell phone stipend.
