The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and executing HR strategies that support organizational goals and ensure a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture. This role oversees core HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and training. The HR Manager serves as a strategic advisor to leadership and a resource for employees across all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts for office and field positions.
- Manage recruiting activities across multiple channels, including job postings, candidate sourcing, and participation in career fairs and similar workforce development events.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, trade programs, and community organizations to support recruiting and workforce pipeline development.
- Manage employee relations matters, performance issues, conflict resolution, and coaching for managers and employees.
- Lead employee engagement, wellness, and recognition programs.
- Oversee performance review processes, training programs, career development, and succession planning.
- Administer benefits, maintain HR records and HRIS system (Bamboo HR), and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
- Support workforce planning, organizational change, and HR initiatives aligned with company objectives.
- Track recruiting, training, and employee development metrics to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, employee relations, and performance management.
- Experience with recruitment, benefits administration, HR systems, and training coordination.
- Strong communication, judgment, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally to jobsites, including locations such as Columbus, Indiana, to meet with onsite field employees.
