QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Human Resources within an educational or public sector environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certification from SHRM or HRCI is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Positive energy, enthusiasm and a desire to collaborate with colleagues across departments
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite; familiarity with HR and financial software such as SmartFindExpress, TalentEd, and/or MUNIS a plus
  • A desire and willingness to learn new technologies and to explore ways for those technologies to improve department operations
  • Problem solving skills with flexibility to meet changing work needs and competing demands
  • Commitment to confidentiality and high quality customer service

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Finance and Operations in coordinating all aspects of the Human Resources function in the district
  • Keep current on all employment contracts and school policies regarding employee benefits.
  • Coordinates posting for vacant positions and oversees the district’s recruitment and applicant tracking system
  • Oversees onboarding processes for all new employees
  • Processes employee exits resulting from resignation, release and/or retirement
  • Generates documentation of all personnel actions, including but not limited to appointment letters, change of status notices, and resignation or retirement letters
  • Coordinates the recruitment, hiring, and assignment of all district substitutes
  • Manages leave processes by meeting with employees, requesting and reviewing required documentation, generating approval or denial notices, and maintaining effective communication with staff and the district payroll team
  • Processes requests for lane changes
  • Assumes primary responsibility for producing annual mass communications (e.g., letters of reasonable assurance, contract renewal notices, letters of non-renewal, etc.)
  • Handles all daily communications made by email, phone or in-person office visits timely and courteously; serves as a resource to all staff and potential candidates
  • Manages the maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records and employment files to ensure the accuracy of employees’ compensation, position eligibility and compliance with state and federal regulatory mandates; ensure rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed
  • Maintains compliance with policies and directives issued by the School Committee, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, and federal and state agencies
  • Responsible for running CORI criminal background checks
  • Seeks ways to leverage technology, store and retrieve data in an effective and efficient manner, and promote the continuous improvement of the HR department
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations, Assistant Director of Finance and Operations and/or Superintendent

 

SALARY: In accordance with non-union contract
