Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager (HRM) will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR) department.  The HRM will ensure legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy to ensure effective and efficient operations of the HR Department for the success of team members using Wood Resources principles & values.


The HRM will have key responsibilities in all areas of HR disciplines, but not limited to benefits administration, payroll, compensation, recruiting, employee relations, training and development, diversity, performance evaluations, Jones Act compliance, internal investigations, and all other HR related areas.


Key Responsibilities

Essential job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
·       Lead HR initiatives to strengthen culture, engagement, and retention.
·       Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
·       Manage payroll, benefits, leave administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.), and insurance renewals.
·       Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
·       Partner with leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
·       Maintain HR policies, records, and reporting requirements.
·       Coordinate training, development, and employee recognition programs.
·       Serve as liaison with benefits providers, vendors, and external partners.
·       Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

·       Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
·       Proven leadership with ability to prioritize, delegate, and adapt.
·       Skilled in employee relations, problem-solving, and negotiation.
·       Knowledgeable in employment laws and HR compliance.
·       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems.

 

 Education and Experience
·       Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in HR or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
·       Knowledge of Jones Act preferred.
·       Possess a valid State Driver’s License, and a good driving record.
·       Experience in payroll software’s. (Netchex preferred).
·       Knowledge of HR and payroll regulations.
·       At least five years of human resource management experience required.
·       SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
·       Must have solid experience in metrics and an advanced knowledge of principles/practices of HR Management.

Schedule
·       Full-Time, 40+ hrs./week.
·       Some travel required.
