Description

General Summary:

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining training systems and programs to support employee growth and improve organizational performance. This role drives success by creating a culture of continuous learning, fostering technical and professional development, and aligning training programs with business goals. The L&D Manager partners closely with department managers and operations leaders to identify development needs and ensure that employees have the skills required to meet both current and future business objectives.

This is an on-site position based in a Brunswick, Georgia, manufacturing facility and requires occasional travel to other company sites.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to a positive and proactive employee and food safety culture. Ensures full compliance with all relevant environmental, health, safety, and food safety requirements. Reinforces safety and food safety as top priorities in all training content.
  • Assesses training and development needs across departments and develops strategic plans to address them.
  • Designs, delivers, and manages onboarding, compliance, leadership, and technical training programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of learning initiatives, adjusting to improve outcomes. 
  • Provides oversight, guidance, and development support to Training Coordinators and operations training initiatives.  
  • Ensures alignment, consistency, and quality of training initiatives across the organization; fosters collaboration and sharing of best practices.  
  • Serves as a key member of the HR team to drive initiatives that support the broader HR strategy. 
  • Manages and administers the Alchemy LMS and Employee Training Management System (ETMS) to ensure seamless delivery and tracking of training programs. 
  • Manages learning resources (including LinkedIn Learning), vendor relationships, and training budgets.
  • Leads and coordinates Seafood University for employees.
  • Develops frontline supervisor and leadership development programs.
  • Supports a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Brings new ideas and approaches for learning and development; stays abreast of current methods, technology, and platforms for training.
  • Maintains a visible and approachable presence on the plant floor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development, preferably within a manufacturing or food production environment. 
  • Experience with digital training technologies and learning management systems
  • Deep understanding and ability to apply instructional design and adult learning principles 
  • Effective communication, facilitation, and project management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to analyze data, measure training effectiveness and recommend improvements 
  • Comfort working in multi-shift, plant-floor environments
Salary Description
$90,000 - $110,000/year
