Human Resources Generalist
Part-Time 20-30 hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organized Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations in a growing multi-state design and manufacturing company. This role works closely with leadership to support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, HR systems, and culture initiatives. A key goal of this position is recruiting for manufacturing and construction-related roles, so experience with — or strong understanding of — manufacturing and construction culture, skilled trades recruiting, and operational workforce environments is strongly valued.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, people-focused, capable of professionally handling sensitive employee information/data, and comfortable balancing administrative execution with process improvement. This position plays a critical role in supporting employees, managers, and leadership while helping maintain a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Hiring
- Coordinate recruiting activities and hiring processes across departments
- Post and maintain job openings through the ATS and external job boards
- Review resumes and conduct initial phone screens
- Schedule interviews and coordinate communication with candidates and hiring managers
- Support job fairs, recruiting events, and referral programs
- Assist with salary benchmarking and recruiting market research
- Coordinate pre-employment screenings, assessments, background checks, and references
- Support offer letter preparation and onboarding coordination
- Lead and coordinate recruiting efforts for manufacturing and construction-related roles across departments.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify candidates who can succeed in fast-paced, hands-on environments and align with company expectations around safety, professionalism, communication, and accountability
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Administer onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain onboarding checklists, employee files, and HR documentation
- Help create a positive and welcoming employee experience
- Support employee engagement initiatives and company culture efforts
- Schedule exit interviews and assist with tracking retention insights
HR Administration & Operations
- Maintain HR calendars, reporting schedules, and employee records
- Support HRIS, ATS, payroll, and benefits administration processes
- Assist with policy updates, handbook maintenance, and documentation standards
- Ensure accurate and confidential recordkeeping for physical and digital HR files
- Track required trainings and compliance deadlines
Employee Relations & Compliance
- In collaboration with HR leadership, support managers with employee relations concerns and corrective action processes
- Assist with compliance related to wage and hour laws, leave administration, accommodations, and workplace documentation
- Help coordinate compliance training and policy communication
- Support workers’ compensation administration and safety-related documentation
- Maintain awareness of federal, state, and multi-state employment law requirements
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Assist with benefits administration and open enrollment coordination
- Serve as an employee resource for benefits questions
- Support ACA reporting, payroll coordination, and 401(k) administration with finance and vendors
- Coordinate benefit data updates and employee communications
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR, recruiting, or people operations experience preferred
- Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, or HR administration
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Digital proficiency with and/or the ability to learn Google Workspace and HR systems/ATS platforms
- Manufacturing or multi-location experience is a plus
- Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices preferred

Compensation & Schedule
- Salary: $50,000 annually
- Part-time schedule 20-30 hours per week based on candidate experience and company needs
