Reporting to the Manager for Compensation and Benefits, the Payroll and HR Specialist will oversee the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This person will also provide technical expertise and analytical support to the HR team on the HRIS Payroll system and general support to staff as needed.

DUTIES

  • Acts as subject matter expert on the payroll and HRIS system and for staff with payroll issues and questions
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Reviews data entry to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, leave policies and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Meets with employees as needed to review leave policies and procedures and updates leave status within HRIS system
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures and acts as a subject matter expert with regard to the payroll system.
  • Pulls data from the system and produces regular metrics for the HR team for scheduled and ad hoc reporting..
  • Manages annual compliance such as EEO, AAP and Non-discrimination testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field desired and five to seven years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and multi-state payroll taxes.
  • Advanced experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Prior experience with allocation of time and/or ADP's third-party vendor (IDI) strongly preferred.
  • HR Generalist experience strongly desired.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding matters of significance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
