JOB SUMMARY: 

The Payroll and HR Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly. This role is the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and provides hands-on support for payroll operations, tax and garnishment administration, employee troubleshooting, and vendor coordination. The Payroll and HR Specialist works closely with HR, Finance, clinical leaders, and third-party vendors to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and a high level of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities​:

  • Support bi-weekly payroll processing, including audits, data validation, and payroll submission, under the guidance of the Senior Payroll and HR Specialist

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, responding to employee questions and resolving issues related to pay, tax updates, address changes, and required payroll corrections

  • Assist with payroll inputs, including bonuses, retroactive pay, off-cycle payments, and compensation changes

  • Investigate payroll tax tickets, including local tax code issues, and coordinate updates with local tax agencies as needed

  • Troubleshoot tax election and withholding issues with employees

  • Process and submit payroll-related documentation, including tax notices and withholding orders, to third-party vendors

  • Audit pending garnishments and support ongoing garnishment administration

  • Complete and respond to requests for pay records, employment and wage verifications, and Medical Support Notices; submit required documentation to applicable child support agencies

  • Assist with expense report review and approval, ensuring compliance with company expense policies

  • Follow up with employees to obtain or confirm information needed for payroll accuracy, including address changes and tax updates

  • Reconcile payroll-related integrations, including 401(k) and HSA contributions, with external vendors

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support compliance, audits, and internal controls

  • Support payroll projects and perform other related duties as needed

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience, supporting payroll processing in a multi-state environment

  • Experience supporting bi-weekly or high-volume payroll operations

  • Experience with Workday Payroll strongly preferred, including payroll processing, time and absence, and payroll-related reporting

  • Experience working with payroll tax agencies, garnishments, and third-party vendors

  • Familiarity with payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local levels

  • Experience responding to employee payroll inquiries and resolving discrepancies in a customer-service–focused environment

Work Environment, Equipment, and Physical Demands

  • Interacts regularly with employees, managers, and external vendors

  • Performs detailed, confidential work requiring sustained focus and accuracy

  • Works primarily during standard business hours, with additional time required during payroll cycles, year-end activities, or special projects

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work at minimum 40 hours per week 

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Must comply with practice policies and procedures.

  • Requires daily in-office work. 

  • Physical activities include sitting for long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling.

  • Must be able to reach, pull, and push.

  • Requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
