Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Guthrie team is seeking a Plant Human Resources Manager. The incumbent will report to the Sr. Manager Human Resources and  is responsible for providing a wide range of human resource services including compensation, recruitment and selection, personnel administration, employee training and development, organizational development, employee relations, and change management to employees of the Recycling and Finishing plants in Guthrie, KY.

 

This role aligns business objectives with employees and management in the functional groups they support. A successful Plant HR Manager will live the Novelis Culture Beliefs, act as an employee champion and change agent who can quickly and sustainably develop trust of managers and employees alike. The incumbent assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates to business management proactively, seeking to develop coordinated solutions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coach, lead and develop HR Generalist.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to Plant leadership bring expertise in Human Resources and people development.
  • Build a talent rich and sustainable leadership group through organizational planning and employee development.
  • Provide and ensure efficient, day-to-day HR administration and operations.
  • Help managers build effective teams, provide learning and development opportunities to employees at all levels.
  • Provide mentorship to employees on a variety of employee related issues and situations.
  • Assist managers/leaders with addressing performance-related issues.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition COE to identify and hire the human capital critical to the site.
  • Work closely with managers/supervisors to ensure policy adherence and consistency.
  • Assist department managers  and employees with annual core HR processes.
  • Maintain high level of engagement with the workforce and build a strong culture within the plant by working with the leadership team, staff and hourly employees to ensure that employees feel valued.
  • Formulate and implement the Plant HR strategy consistent with the HR strategies across the business.
  • Establish and maintain self-led teams in the plant – both structurally and culturally such that all employees have an ownership attitude.
  • Ensure that all the major HR systems, policies, and programs run efficiently, effectively, and are aligned with the strategic needs of the plant.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Seven (7) + years of progressive human resources experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in recruiting and building robust teams.
  • Self-motivation to get results and complete tasks independently.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to connect with all levels in the organization clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to coordinate and prioritize technology and lead multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and build relationships with the workforce.
  • Proven leadership, change management and decision-making skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, organized and detail oriented.
  • Must possess leadership skills to advise, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment, with ability to balance multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Proficiency with software applications, including Microsoft Office.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Human Resources or MBA preferred
  • Previous experience with a greenfield or brownfield site

Location Profile

Novelis’ Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. In addition to hunting fishing and hiking residents enjoy the Guthrie Transportation Museum which is the hub of the city’s renewal efforts. The Guthrie team enjoys partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College Todd County High School Guthrie Fire Department and several local Rotary Clubs.
