Position Overview:
The Production Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing GMP-compliant training programs for manufacturing employees. This role ensures all production employees are trained, qualified, and continuously developed in accordance with regulatory requirements, company SOPs, and operational standards. Partnering with business leaders in Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, HR and Engineering, the Production Training Manger plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, inspection readiness, and operational excellence within the facility.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement, and maintain training programs that comply with applicable GMP regulations for production
- Maintain inspection-ready training documentation and records
- Conduct needs assessments to identify knowledge or skills gaps and propose targeted training solutions
- Develop comprehensive GMP training materials including: Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) training guides, work instructions and job aids, visual process maps and flow diagrams, on-the-job training (OJT) qualification packets, assessment tools and competency evaluations
- Update training content promptly following change controls, deviations or CAPAs
- Develop and deliver structured onboarding programs for new manufacturing employees
- Oversee qualification and certification process for operators
- Evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs, assessments, feedback, and performance tracking
- Lead training initiatives for new equipment, process changes, and procedural updates
- Support cross-training initiatives to improve workforce flexibility
- Collaborate with Safety, Quality, and HR teams to ensure compliance with regulations and policies
- Coach & support leaders in delivering OJT
- Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, AI and integrate them into program
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design or related field required. Relevant experience considered.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Training program development certification preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years experience in GMP – regulated manufacturing environment
- 2+ years of experience developing and implementing training materials within a regulated environment, including successful rollout and adoption
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma
- Strong knowledge of GMP regulations and documentation practices
- Instructional design expertise
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and eLearning authoring tools
- Strong written communication and technical writing skills
- Knowledge of adult learning theory
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
