Apex Clean Energy is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior HR Generalist to join Apex Clean Energy’s Human Resources team. This role blends both tactical execution and strategic partnership, with a strong focus on talent acquisition, talent management, data analytics, and performance management, while also supporting core HR operations including benefits and leave of absence (LOA) administration.
The ideal candidate brings a well-rounded HR background, a recruiter’s mindset, and a process-oriented approach. This individual will play a key role in driving hiring excellence, strengthening performance practices, and enhancing the overall employee experience, while helping to build and refine scalable HR processes in a growing, mission-driven organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process across departments, from intake through offer and onboarding
- Partner closely with hiring managers to align on hiring needs, role requirements, and workforce planning
- Proactively source and engage both active and passive candidates using diverse channels
- Collaborate on compensation benchmarking and offer development aligned with internal equity and market data
- Track and analyze recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, pipeline health, quality of hire) to drive continuous improvement
- Partner with marketing or employer branding teams to enhance job advertisements, social content, and careers page visibility
- Contribute to workforce planning and pipeline building for future talent needs
- Stay current on talent trends and best practices to inform sourcing strategies and recruitment process improvements
Talent Management & Performance Management
- Support and evolve performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and ongoing feedback practices
- Partner with leaders to strengthen performance conversations, employee development, and accountability
- Assist in identifying talent gaps and support succession planning and internal mobility efforts
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including performance improvement plans and coaching strategies
HR Operations, Benefits & LOA
- Support benefits administration, including employee education, enrollment, and vendor coordination
- Assist in managing and tracking leave of absence (LOA) processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA)
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient HR operations across the employee lifecycle
- Maintain data integrity within HRIS and ATS systems and support reporting needs
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, action planning, and recognition programs
- Support onboarding to ensure a seamless and engaging new hire experience
- Conduct stay and exit interviews to gather insights and inform retention strategies
Process Improvement & HR Strategy
- Identify opportunities to build, refine, and scale HR processes and policies to support organizational growth
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) across HR functions
- Leverage data and insights to inform decision-making and improve HR effectiveness
- Stay current on HR trends and best practices to continuously elevate programs and processes
To succeed as a Senior HR Generalist at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
- 3+ years of HR experience, with a strong focus on the talent lifecycle
- Strong experience in talent acquisition, with the ability to manage full-cycle recruiting across multiple roles
- Demonstrated experience in performance management, employee relations, and HR operations
- Experience supporting or administering benefits and leave of absence programs
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). ADP Workforce Now and SmartRecruiters experience preferred
- Proven ability to build or refine processes, drive efficiencies, and support scalable growth
- Current with employment law and HR best practices
- Experience in renewable or clean energy industry (preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams

Work Environment
