Job Description

The Senior Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing leadership and guidance in the consistent and effective application of policies, procedures, and practices for the Human Resource department. Ensures compliance with appropriate governing laws and regulations.  This position provides Human Resource support by partnering with management and team members in areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll, worker’s compensation, onboarding, employee engagement, performance management and other various activities/projects. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with management and team members to build a culture aligned to the Jack Link’s values.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and employee recognition programs. 
  • Investigate and manage employee relations issues while following a consistently applied disciplinary process.   
  • Manage all unemployment claims. 
  • Support and implement change management initiatives.
  • Perform full cycle recruiting; responsibilities include searching, screening, interviewing, and making offers of employment. 
  • Facilitate and deliver a consistent and effective onboarding program and work with management to ensure successful orientation of new hires into the organization. 
  • Administers, interprets, and maintains personnel policies, programs, and procedures in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.  Research, develop and recommend employment policies.  Assures adherence to policies and procedures pertaining to human resource management.  Maintain Team Member files.
  • Support performance management process through partnership with leaders and Human Resources.
  • Partner with Benefit team as liaison for leave of absence and disability requests. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or business-related field or equivalent work experience preferred. (Typically, 4+ years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)

  • SHRM/HRCI certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in the HR field; previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred. 
  • Prior experience with payroll and/or HRIS systems preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and team members.
  • Understand legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. 
  • Must demonstrate effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn and use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to organize and prioritize in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Knowledge on employment law and other HR related concepts.
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to organize and plan work to meet established deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant setting with wet/slippery floors, varying degrees of temperatures with an average temperature of 40 degrees in the production area.  Team Members will be exposed to raw and/or cooked meat products and moving equipment and will be required to follow all Food Safety Quality requirements. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job the Team Member will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. beard/hairnet, ear plugs, frock, boots, etc.), walk, stand for extended periods of time, and repetitive use of hands/arms to push, pull, reach and occasionally lift above head.  The Team Member must occasionally lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds and 50 pounds infrequently. The position involves exposure to the odor and possible contact with food products, spices, and sauces. Team Members are requested to visually inspect equipment and/or product.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000 (Annually.) Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards.
