THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Sr. HR Generalist to serve as the primary people partner for employees and leaders across the organization. This role will act as a trusted advisor and in-person resource for employees, responsible for shaping and driving the organization’s people strategy, focusing on fostering a positive workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and developing talent to achieve the company’s business objectives. This Sr. Hr Generalist will partner closely with leadership to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness, while supporting talent acquisition efforts on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate is experienced in employee relations, has prior experience with full lifecycle recruiting, and thrives in a creative environment in which you simultaneously think strategically and execute in a hands-on manner. This is a great role for someone who enjoys balancing employees and culture, with organizational objectives and results.

Please note: This is a hybrid role. Hartbeat is in-office 4 days per week, with Tues - Thurs being the core in-office days. Employees have the flexibility to choose between Monday and Friday being their 4th day in office, with the 5th day being their choice based on their preference and personal needs. Our office is located in West Hollywood.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Relations & People Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for leaders and employees at Hartbeat, fostering effective relationships across the company.

  • In partnership with our external HR consultant and leadership, manage employee relations issues, applying sound judgment to resolve concerns while adhering to legal/regulatory compliance and company policies

  • Foster an environment of trust and integrity, ensuring employees feel heard and respected, while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Guide and advise managers in driving a performance-driven culture, coaching them on providing effective feedback to unleash the potential of their teams.

  • Monitor and positively influence team dynamics and our Hartbeat corporate culture.

  • Support initiatives that strengthen engagement and organizational culture, including but not limited to performance management, compensation planning, learning and development, on/offboarding, and employee engagement.

  • Monitor and assess employee engagement and organizational health, identifying themes or trends through conversations, stay/exit interviews, feedback, and informal check-ins. Leverage these insights to partner with leadership to address opportunities for improvement.

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and programs that foster connection, recognition, and a positive workplace experience, helping to translate employee feedback into actionable improvements.

  • Partner with divisional leaders to manage human capital budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support people initiatives

  • Lead organizational change initiatives, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth transitions and change management processes.

Talent Acquisition Partnership

  • Develop talent acquisition strategies and support full lifecycle recruiting as business needs arise, including:

    • Partnering with hiring managers to define role requirements

    • Supporting candidate sourcing, assessment, and selection

    • Assisting offer preparation and closing candidates

  • Collaborate with external recruiters or recruiting partners when needed.

HR Operations & Programs

  • Support key HR processes including compensation planning, employee retention, on/offboarding, and compliance.

  • Help maintain HR documentation, policies, and employee communications related to people programs.

  • Identify opportunities to improve employee experience and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure continuity of core HR operations including compliance, benefits & payroll administration alongside the external benefits/payroll specialist to maintain smooth employee support and compliance.

Culture & Employee experience

  • Provide leadership with insights on employee sentiment and organizational health.

  • Conduct pulse check surveys as needed to identify areas of concern to surface and address with leadership.

  • Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives, promoting a workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably previous experience a generalist

  • Experience leading employee relations, including investigations and strong understanding of employment laws and regulations

  • Proven ability to coach managers and influence leadership

  • Experience supporting recruiting or talent acquisition leadership

  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive situations

  • Ability to thrive in a start-up, evolving environment

  • Ability to balance employee advocacy with business priorities

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities

  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust quickly

  • Both strategic and hands-on in how you approach your role

  • The successful candidate will be proactive and innovative in implementing employee programs that are competitive, drive business results, and enhance our culture.

  • Exceptionally organized and proactive with demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bring disparate perspectives together towards common goals.

  • Experience in media, entertainment, or creative industries is a plus

COMPENSATION

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, competencies, prior relevant experience, and work location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and incentives.
