OVERVIEW
The HR Generalist leads daily human resources operations, including recruitment, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and regulatory compliance. They act as a versatile liaison between employees and management, supporting hiring, performance management, policy implementation, and records maintenance within an organization's HR department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the hiring process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and facilitating onboarding for new hires.
- Administer employee benefit programs (health insurance, time off programs and retirement) including open enrollment, employee questions, invoice reconciliation and regulatory compliance.
- Lead leave of absence administration.
- Provide guidance to managers related to disciplinary actions and participate in investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local labor laws and regulations.
- Maintain confidential employee records and update HR systems (HRIS), currently ADP, and prepare reports.
- Coordinate employee events and charitable activities.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5+ years of experience in an HR generalist role.
- HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems.
