Job Title: Senior Human Resources Generalist
Department: General & Administrative
Reports To: GM/COO

 

Job Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for independently managing the full scope of HR operations at the club, ensuring compliance with employment laws and policies while supporting a positive, inclusive workplace culture. This hands-on role covers all key HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and policy development, without direct supervisory responsibility for HR staff. The Senior HR Generalist also leads the maintenance and oversight of the club’s HRIS system (Paycom), ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, and supports both strategic initiatives and day-to-day HR needs.

 

Directly Supervises:
This position does not have any direct reports but will regularly collaborate with the club’s controller and staff accountant.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes in coordination with department heads.
  • Lead bi-weekly payroll processing and ensure accurate employee timekeeping across departments.
  • Maintain the HRIS system (Paycom) by managing all electronic employee records, documentation, and compliance files, including background checks, onboarding documents, and I-9 audits.
  • Troubleshoot issues within the Paycom system to ensure accurate data management, reporting, and system functionality.
  • Administer and manage benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations; assist employees with benefits-related questions and claims.
  • Coordinate and lead new hire orientation and ensure completion of all required documentation and onboarding tasks.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations, performance concerns, progressive discipline, and policy interpretation.
  • Maintain and apply the existing employee handbook, safety manual, and internal HR policies in alignment with local, state, and federal laws; review and update as needed to ensure continued accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead internal communications efforts, including managing the monthly employee newsletter and contributing to the club’s employee social media pages.
  • Organize and facilitate employee engagement initiatives such as the Employee Committee, awards programs, special events, and appreciation activities.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute employee recognition and retention efforts.
  • Process terminations and ensure final pay, PTO balances, and benefits offboarding are handled in a timely manner.
  • Provide reporting and year-end support for W-2s, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Stay current with HR best practices, legal updates, and industry trends in hospitality.
  • Represent HR as a resource for all departments while actively supporting a high-performing, values-based workplace.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Education, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office software.
  • 3-5 years of relevant HR experience.
  • Experience in hospitality-based businesses preferred.
  • SHRM- CP or PHR Certification highly preferred.
  • HRIS Management (Paycom a Plus)
  • IT and software proficiency, with preferred experience in Paycom payroll software.

 

Physical Demands:

  • This role primarily requires extended periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer, reviewing documents, and performing administrative tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands is necessary for typing, writing, and handling office equipment or paperwork.
  • Regular talking, hearing, and effective communication are essential for conducting interviews, leading meetings, and engaging with employees and management.
  • Occasional standing and walking are required for attending meetings, training sessions, or interacting with employees in different departments or locations.
  • The employee may occasionally need to lift and move items weighing up to 15 pounds, such as files, binders, or small office equipment.
  • Visual requirements include close vision for reading detailed reports, computer work, and analyzing documents.
