Position Summary: The Vice President of People Operations is a strategic leader responsible for designing, building, and scaling a high-performance people infrastructure that enables organizational growth, operational excellence, and cultural alignment. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the executive team and partners closely with business leaders to align talent strategy with company objectives. The VP of People Operations oversees all aspects of human capital management, including talent acquisition, employee experience, total rewards, leadership development, compliance, workforce planning, and organizational design. The ideal candidate is both strategic and operational — capable of setting vision while ensuring disciplined execution in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive People Strategy aligned with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on organizational design, succession planning, workforce risk, and culture.
  • Drive a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, transparency, and trust.
  • Partner with senior leaders to assess organizational health and implement scalable talent solutions.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead strategic workforce planning to support operational expansion and evolving business needs.
  • Oversee recruitment strategy to attract top-tier talent across corporate and field operations.
  • Build employer branding initiatives that position the company as an employer of choice.

Leadership Development & Employee Experience

  • Design leadership development frameworks that strengthen management capability at all levels.
  • Champion employee engagement initiatives that enhance retention, productivity, and morale.
  • Drive coaching and development programs that empower leaders to build strong, accountable teams.
  • Drive initiatives that reinforce intrinsic motivation, recognition, and professional growth.

Total Rewards & Performance Management

  • Develop competitive compensation and benefits strategies aligned with market benchmarks and company performance.
  • Lead performance management systems that reinforce accountability and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment between rewards, results, and company values.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Mitigate organizational risk through sound policy development and consistent application.
  • Oversee employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and strategic judgment.
  • Lead investigations and complex people matters with fairness and integrity.

People Operations & Systems

  • Optimize HR systems, reporting, and analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track workforce metrics including turnover, engagement, productivity, and labor costs.
  • Build scalable processes that support rapid growth while maintaining operational discipline

Other Requirements:

  • 12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive-level role
  • Demonstrated experience scaling teams in high-growth, operationally complex environments (energy, industrial, or multi-site experience preferred).
  • Deep expertise in employment law, compliance, and risk management.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to align people strategy to EBITDA and operational performance.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence at board and C-suite levels. · Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field).
  • SPHR®, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification preferred
