 Position Summary

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, aligning our people strategy with organizational goals. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of human resources including leadership development, HR compliance, policy development, employee engagement, workplace wellness, labor relations and cultivating a culture grounded in emotional intelligence, equity, and respect.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CEO, particularly during periods of growth and organizational change.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to leadership on complex HR and organizational issues.
  • Align people strategy with mission; precedence setting organizational need while walking the line of supporting staff and operations. Building collaborative culture focused on development of leaders and staff performance.
  • Confident working with boards and executive teams to develop and execute long-term talent and culture.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational mission and long-term goals.
  • Lead organization-wide efforts in leadership development and talent management. Address staffing shortages, clinician burnout and high turnover through creative workforce planning and engagement strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of HR compliance, policy development, labor relations and survey readiness in collaboration with agency compliance/quality team.
  • Oversee creation, communication, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Champion workplace wellness initiatives to support employee health and morale.
  • Promote a culture of emotional intelligence, respect, inclusion, and high performance.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify and address workforce needs.
  • Manage HR team and support services, including recruitment, retention, and performance management.  In depth knowledge and proven success with managing all HR functions and relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to align people strategies with organizational goals.
  • Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership development and change management.
  • High emotional intelligence and a commitment to inclusive, equitable workplace practices.
  • Strong conflict resolution, ability to refocus for productive resolution at a non-biased level.
  • Resilient, collaborative and inspirational leader with ability to build high trust relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
