Employee Relations & Investigations Manager

Department: People & Culture

Reports to: Vice President of Human Resources

Job Summary

The Employee Relations & Investigations Manager is a leadership position responsible for managing and overseeing the employee relations functions within St. Joe Company. This role involves developing and implementing policies and programs to ensure a positive work environment, resolving employee conflicts, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.  The Employee Relations & Investigations Manager plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the employer-employee relationship to foster a productive and engaged workforce.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing, facilitating, and tracking the effectiveness of our employee relations programs. 
  • Marking improvement areas and formulating objectives for our internal communication campaigns
  • Supervising & leading our P & C Generalist team and ensuring that all decisions comply with company policies
  • Hearing complaints, suggestions, and concerns related to internal relations from across all departments
  • Providing guidance and support to different departments and department heads, as well as creating an overarching employee relations management strategy

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement employee relations policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Ensure policies are compliant with labor laws and regulations. 
  • Manage & maintain all HRIS system transactions accuracy including terminations, transfers and hiring.

Conflict Resolution:

  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues and conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances.
  • Produce regular reporting to senior leadership regarding issues & management. 

Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct employee surveys and analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Plan, organize, and manage large scale company wide programs and initiatives to include annual party and wellness programming.  

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as conflict resolution, communication, and performance management.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Safety & Risk with Safety Program implementations and requirements & reporting. 
  • Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality.

Labor Relations:

  • Ensure compliance with agreements and labor laws.

Performance Management:

  • Support the performance management process, including performance reviews and performance improvement plans.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on handling performance-related issues.

Employee Recognition:

  • Develop and implement employee recognition programs to reward and acknowledge employee contributions.
  • Promote a culture of recognition and appreciation within the organization.
  • Monitor Employee recognition efforts of business units.  

HR Metrics and Reporting:

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to employee relations.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on employee relations metrics and trends.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

    • Strong public speaking, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • As this role demands daily communication with various internal stakeholders, it is necessary to possess outstanding written and spoken communication skills, as well as excellent problem-solving abilities. You are also required to have an in-depth understanding of administrative protocols, organizational structure, and hierarchical functions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in talent management, performance management, HR program management, or related enterprise roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently 
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional programs involving change management and enterprise partners.
  • Experience working with HR technology platforms (e.g., PayCom) and enterprise reporting.
  • Broad knowledge of employee relations, complex workplace investigations, federal and state laws / regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADAAA and FMLA).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
  • Frequent keyboarding and occasional driving.

Working Conditions

    • Primarily indoors in an office environment.
    • Regular travel to St. Joe properties for training, audits, coaching, and operational support.
