Description:

Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) is seeking a full-time HR Generalist with a focus on Employee Relations and Safety, located at our Administration Office in Salem, Oregon. This role plays a key part in cultivating a respectful, safe, and legally compliant workplace. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in employee relations and will serve as a trusted partner to managers and staff across the organization. You’ll provide guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, compliance, investigations, and organizational culture initiatives—all while supporting our broader HR and safety goals.  This position offers a competitive compensation package including employer paid health, vision, dental, paid time off, and retirement through the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and 11 paid holidays per year.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on policies, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation and records.
  • Lead or support investigations into employee concerns, misconduct, or policy violations; ensure timely and thorough documentation.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend policy updates to remain compliant with employment laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Administrative Proficiency: Experience with office practices, including scheduling, proofreading, record-keeping, logistics support, and proficiency with computers and office equipment.
  • Collaborate on employee engagement and wellness efforts.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of workplace safety programs.
  • Conduct safety audits, assist with incident investigations, and help ensure compliance with OSHA standards and internal protocols.
  • Collaborate with leadership to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work some late and unusual hours, including some weekends
  • Requires willingness to travel in or out of state, including some overnight trips
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs without assistive aids
  • Travel throughout the institution(s) will be required on a regular basis

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, or directly related field of study; and 1 year of experience in Human Resources and/or safety.

OR

  • Four (4) years of human resources and/or safety experience. 

AND

  • Pass an initial and annual Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) criminal background check
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
