Employee Relations Specialist

People Incorporated is seeking a Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team.  This role is responsible for supporting a positive, compliant, and fair workplace by managing employee relations activities, conducting investigations, advising managers on HR policies, and ensuring consistent application of employment practices across the organization. The role provides guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, corrective action, and regulatory compliance to help ensure a healthy employee experience and mitigate risk for the organization.

Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm with flexible business hours

Location: People Incorporated Main Office, 3000 Ames Crossing Road, Suite 600, Eagan, MN 55121

Regular in-person presence is required with flexibility to work remotely part-time.  Occasional flexibility to travel to other People Incorporated work locations in the Twin Cities.

Hiring Range:  $61,150 to $65,150 annual salary

Hiring Bonus: $1,000 to external candidates

Main Job Duties:

  • Conduct timely, thorough, and objective investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other policy violations.
  • Provide guidance to leaders and employees on conflict resolution and issue de escalation.  Advise managers on performance management processes, including coaching, counseling, documentation, and performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and secure documentation of all employee relations activities.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure clarity and legal compliance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with unemployment claims, internal audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide a safe, confidential, and approachable resource for employees to seek guidance on workplace issues.
  • Support efforts to improve communication, morale, and employee engagement.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field; or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum of two years of HR generalist or employee relations experience, including involvement in investigations and corrective action processes.
•    In lieu of degree, 6 years of experience in human resources. 
•    Experience interpreting and applying employment laws and HR policies.
•    Experience coaching managers in performance and conduct-related issues.
•    Ability to pass required background checks.
•    Valid driver’s license and auto insurance if travel is required for the role.

Preferred Education and Experience: 
•    Experience in social services, healthcare, or other high touch environments.
•    Experience in a multi site or distributed workforce organization.
•    Experience with HRIS/HCM systems and case management tools.
 
Certifications:
•    SHRM-CP certification preferred.
