Position Summary: 

The Head of Human Resources plays a critical leadership role in supporting 1888 Industrial Services’ continued growth and operational excellence across Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. This role is responsible for driving the strategic direction and daily operations of the Human Resources function, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with all relevant employment regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong working knowledge of multi-state labor laws, a proactive leadership style, and the ability to support both field and office employees in a fast-paced, industrial services environment.

This position will oversee a wide range of HR responsibilities including policy development, employee relations, benefits compliance, training, and talent development. In addition to supporting senior leadership and operational managers, this role is also expected to mentor and guide HR team members.


Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

· Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with the company’s operational and cultural goals.

· Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations, including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation requirements across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado.

· Lead employee relations efforts, including conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and exit processes.

· Manage unemployment and workers' compensation claims, and support employees through leave processes (FMLA, FMLI, Short/Long Term Disability).

· Prepare for and assist with company audits involving employee records, benefits, or compliance documentation.

· Design and oversee company-wide training and development programs that support upskilling, onboarding, and compliance.

· Regularly assess and recommend updates to HR policies based on changing laws, industry trends, and workforce needs.

· Provide leadership and support to HR team members, ensuring consistent, accurate, and timely delivery of HR services.

· Partner with managers and leadership to advise on HR-related matters and ensure consistent application of policies.

Required Qualifications:

· Bi-Lingual (Spanish) preferred

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

· 8–10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally in a company of similar size or in a growth environment.

· Proven success as a strategic HR business partner at the leadership level.

· Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and HR best practices.

· Experience building or scaling HR infrastructure in a multi-site or cross-functional organization.

· Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

· Strong working knowledge of employment law in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

· Experience in industrial services, construction, or field-based workforce environments is a strong plus. 


Desired Qualifications:

· HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a strong plus.

· Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.

· Minimum 3-5 years of HR team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

· This position is primarily office-based and requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk using a computer and telephone.

· Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching may be necessary throughout the day.

· The role may occasionally require light lifting (up to 15-20lbs) for office-related tasks (e.g., files, supplies).

· Must have the ability to travel to and from the Greeley, CO office on a daily basis; this is an on-site position.

· The work environment is a professional office setting, with standard lighting, temperature, and noise levels typical of administrative environments.


Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $80,000-$110,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Overtime: This is a salaried, exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay.
