Anderson Environmental Contracting, LLC (AEC), a leading environmental construction firm based in Kelso, WA, is seeking a hands-on Health, Safety & Employee Relations Manager to join our team. This is a junior-to-mid management position responsible for implementing and managing AEC’s health, safety, and employee relations programs in collaboration with field operations, project managers, and leadership.


The successful candidate will serve as a key link between project teams and leadership—supporting the company’s safety culture, improving employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Health & Safety Program Management

  • Implement and maintain AEC’s health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and audits; provide detailed reporting and corrective action recommendations.
  • Monitor project activities for compliance with OSHA, WISHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and document Crew Safety Meetings; coach and mentor staff on safety practices.
  • Review incidents (including near-misses), perform root cause analyses, and recommend improvements.
  • Support compliance with worker’s compensation requirements, investigating claims in partnership with third-party administrators.
  • Maintain AEC’s corporate safety library (manuals, JHAs, MSDS, training materials, safety content).
  • Assist in implementing controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.



Employee Relations & Human Resources

  • Partner with Operations Manager and leadership to support ~60 employees across multiple divisions.
  • Assist in employee onboarding, policy communication, and orientation programs.
  • Support employee relations including conflict resolution, corrective actions, and policy adherence.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and engagement, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities (safety, compliance, leadership skills).
  • Support compliance with federal and state employment laws, HR policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Administer employee drug testing programs and monitor subcontractor compliance.
  • Provide HR support with respect to recruiting, interviewing coordination, documentation, and record-keeping.


Candidate Qualities

  • 3–5 years of experience in construction safety, human resources, or a related field.
  • Candidates working towards CSP, SHRM are encourage to apply
  • On-site construction experience is highly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and state/federal employment regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); able to connect with a diverse workforce.
  • Positive team attitude and ability to manage difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive problem-solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and build buy-in for safety and HR initiatives.
  • Proficiency in MS 365 Suite; comfort with technology and digital platforms.
