Position: HR Assistant 

 Reports to: HR & Accounting Manager 

 Classification: Salaried, Exempt

 Hours: Monday – Friday, Flexible schedule as needed to accommodate the job requirements.

 

Position Purpose

The HR assistant will assist the HR Manager with the administrative day-to-day activities of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, onboarding, employee file maintenance, benefits enrollment, and other tracking and reporting measures and processes. The HR assistant partners with the HR Manager to achieve and surpass the goals of the department and to fulfill the goals of Political Connection and Strategic Connection.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop long-term strategies and key initiatives to promote and achieve a culture of excellence and employee engagement. Assist in the implementation of those strategies.
  • Track and monitor measurement standards that will guide continual improvement of employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Responsible for creating & posting new job requisitions, candidate tracking, and screening, at the direction of Management. 
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate the company Orientation/Handbook review at the beginning of new hire training sessions. Work with Operations to improve the orientation/training process, as requested.
  • Assist with the communication and enrollment of employee benefits packages.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all HR material and personnel information. Identify processes within the department that will improve the ability to secure confidential employee information. 
  • Assist with the preparation, creation, and dissemination of reports, communication, and correspondence as directed by the HR Manager.
  • Create all employee personnel files and maintain employee records and documents in ADP WFN. 
  • Obtain, review, and process required new employee documentation for payroll processing and complete E-Verify for all new hires.
  • Assist employees with questions regarding payroll and benefits and direct them to the appropriate resources or the HR Manager, as necessary. 
  • Provide training and support to all employees on the ADP Workforce Now system. 
  • Understand and consistently enforce company rules and regulations with applicants and employees. 
  • Assist the HR Manager in maintaining compliance with all state/federal employment laws.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by HR Manager 

Qualifications

  • Some Human Resources experience is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of HR specialties, including recruitment, employment law, benefits, staffing, and engagement, is a plus.
  • Computer experience required with proficiency in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compose high-level written correspondence and other documents.
  • Must be dependable and have excellent work attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to organize and promptly prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.
