Position Title: HR Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resources Director
Status: Part-Time Position: 8:00a - 4:30p (3-days a week) on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Position Summary:
The HR Generalist plays a key role in providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, ensuring smooth and efficient human resources operations at our community hospital. This position supports all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, recordkeeping, compliance, and employee support. The HR Generalist is a resource for staff regarding policies, procedures, and HR-related processes, while also contributing to community outreach and hospital initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide professional, friendly, and timely customer service support to employees, applicants, visitors, and community members in person, by phone, and via email.
Assist in recruitment efforts, including utilizing the applicant tracking system, posting job openings, communicating with candidates, and attending career fairs as needed.
Schedule interviews and coordinate recruitment-related communications with applicants and hiring managers.
Prepare, update, and facilitate new employee orientation materials, presentations, and onboarding processes.
Maintain accurate personnel files and records in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
Monitor and process HR department mail and email, responding to inquiries or directing them to the appropriate staff member.
Update and maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), including scanning, labeling, and uploading documents.
Track and verify employee licensures and certifications, ensuring they remain current and accurately recorded in the HRIS.
Familiar with payroll and timecard applications, to make adjustments as requested or need arises.
Interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures to employees and managers in a clear and consistent manner.
Maintain qualifications for contract workers to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.
Maintain user data for the learning management system and policy management system.
Stay informed of laws, regulations, and best practices related to employment, compliance, safety, and training.
Provide clerical and administrative support to the HR Director and department as needed.
Assist in report writing and PI data collection.
Assist in developing and presenting HR-related information to schools, interns, community groups, and partner organizations.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission and needs of the hospital community.
Qualification Requirements:
Education: Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other hospital related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. HR Certificate preferred but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in human resources or administrative support; healthcare experience or healthcare degree preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities.
Knowledge of HR policies, laws, and regulations preferred.
Vaccinations: Per IDPH, CDC and CMS.
Working Conditions:
On-site position in standard office environment within the hospital setting.
May require occasional travel to career fairs, schools, or community events as scheduled.
