Description

The Human Resources Department of Gaston County values diversity and strives to create a workplace that is inclusive and supportive of all individuals. Our full-time Human Resource Department is responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified employees to ensure that we have the best talent to serve our communities.

An hourly salary range of $30.43 to $35.37 is anticipated for this position.

Examples of Duties

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Facilitate new hire onboarding within the HRIS, accurately keying employee data into the system, and serve as the primary liaison for new employees and their respective departments. Coordinate pre-employment requirements, orientation efforts, and completion of all required employment documentation.
  • Assist with all employee lifecycle processes and procedures within NEOGOV, including but not limited to onboarding, offboarding, job postings, and screening applications. Assist supervisor with retention initiatives as needed.
  • Leverage employee data to support retention initiatives by identifying trends and workforce insights. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and participate in best practice trainings as needed. Such as: Smart Interviewing, Hiring & Selection Best Practices. 
  • Assist with Countywide Employee Engagement Events as needed; Attend collegiate and community job fairs to promote Gaston County as an employer of choice.
  • Serve as an internal liaison to foster collaboration, streamline processes, and support cross-functional initiatives. Carry out additional HR responsibilities and special projects as assigned to meet organizational needs. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college and university in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Two to four years of experience in Human Resources, including at least one year of demonstrated experience with HRIS/employee record management, or coordinating the pre-employment process. 
  • Valid driver's license.
