DescriptionPosition Summary
The HR Generalist supports all aspects of human resource operations for the company, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and training. The role ensures that HR practices align with company goals, legal standards, and safety requirements in a transportation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and administrative staff.
- Conduct background checks, DOT verifications, and coordinate new-hire orientations.
- Ensure onboarding processes meet federal and state transportation compliance standards.
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Support a positive work culture that emphasizes safety, accountability, and teamwork.
- Compliance & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain employee and driver qualification files per Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA regulations.
- Ensure HR policies comply with labor laws, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and company procedures.
- Prepare for audits and assist with safety and regulatory inspections.
- Benefits & Payroll Support:
- Coordinate employee benefits administration, including health insurance, leave management, and 401(k).
- Support payroll processing and reporting accuracy.
- Training & Development:
- Assist with driver safety and compliance training coordination.
- Track certifications, licenses, and continuing education requirements.
- HR Projects & Reporting:
- Generate HR metrics and reports (turnover, absenteeism, training compliance, etc.).
- Contribute to policy updates, employee engagement initiatives, and process improvements.
QualificationsQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of HR experience; transportation or logistics industry experience a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and CDL driver qualification processes a plus.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Work Environment
- Office setting with regular interaction with drivers, maintenance, and dispatch staff.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-critical transportation environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- $50k - $60k per year
