Wage band range $25.00 - $38.00; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. Position is eligible to test for a bilingual pay incentive.

Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the HR Generalist provides broad human resources support, including payroll processing, HRIS data management, recruiting, employee relations, and leave-of-absence administration. This role also assists in developing and implementing HR forms, processes, and templates.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Monitor daily timecard reports to identify and resolve missing punches, ensuring accurate use of the payroll system (BETI).
  • Support payroll processing in collaboration with the Compensation & Benefits Manager; develop the ability to independently process payroll as needed.
  • Assist the CHRO and Compensation & Benefits Manager with benefits administration, including enrollments, leaves of absence, and workers’ compensation processes.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates; partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and competencies.
  • Conduct background checks, reference checks, and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Prepare and issue offer letters.
  • Enter and maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS.

Employee Relations Support:

  • Support the Employee Relations Manager by preparing separation documentation and processing terminations in Guardian.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR trends, best practices, employment laws, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all applicable employment and privacy laws.
  • Serve as backup to the Employee Relations Manager in conducting exit interviews.

 



Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with three+ years HR or Payroll experience, preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus

Other Required Skills/Abilities:

Valid California Driver's license.

Language Skills: Bilingual preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, budgets, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and ratios.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.  

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
