Position Overview

Nexus Brands Group is looking for an enthusiastic and organized self-starter to join our dynamic Human Resources (HR) team! Based at our new Chandler, AZ location., this HR Generalist will be the onsite HR partner for leadership and hourly team members (approximately 70-75 team members across two shifts). 

 

The HR Generalist will be central to cultivating positive employee experience, partnering with leaders to build strong teams, and bringing our values to life through daily practices and interactions. The HR Generalist will work onsite Monday-Friday with a flexible start time of 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. Occasional Sunday coverage may be required, though this is expected to be rare. 

 

Training & Transition
 This role will initially be based at our
 Ryan’s Pet Supply (RPS) facility in Phoenix, AZ for onboarding, training, and transition activities. The HR Generalist may spend the first 2–3 months at RPS or split time between Phoenix and Chandler as operations are established, before fully transitioning to the Chandler location.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  • Serve as the primary onsite HR contact for the Chandler location, supporting leadership and hourly team members across all shifts. 
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates for warehouse and leadership roles; collaborate with managers to define skills and competencies.
  • Manage pre-hire and onboarding processes including background checks, eligibility verification, new hire orientation, and I-9 compliance.
  • Work with managers to create and regularly update job descriptions, ensuring they reflect current responsibilities, compliance requirements, and organizational goals.
  • Partner with operations leadership to address employee relations issues, attendance, and performance management, escalating complex matters when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; maintain and update HR policies and procedures.
  • Support training, safety, and compliance programs, including OSHA reporting, safety committee participation, and employee health initiatives. 
  • Drive employee engagement by planning and coordinating activities, events, and recognition programs that foster a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records including new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations and other employee data changes. 
  • Manage leaves of absence, benefits inquiries, workers’ compensation reporting, and related compliance tracking.
  • Partner with leadership to identify opportunities, develop action plans, and implement HR best practices that support retention and development.
  • Assist with annual performance review and merit processes in partnership with the broader HR team.
  • Provide reporting, data analysis, and organizational updates as required.
  • Serve as a backup to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist, including responsibility for full-cycle payroll processing when needed. 
  • Travel to, attend, and work at industry events.
  • Special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Is this role for you?

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education and HR experience
  • 2-4 years of HR experience; experience in an eCommerce distribution or fulfillment center is highly valued.
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Moderate to expert experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, shift-based environment supporting both hourly and leadership populations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities with urgency and accuracy. 
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule occasionally to support different shifts or events. 
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to attend, and work at industry events

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work primarily in an office setting withing a warehouse/distribution environment
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequently walking through warehouse areas
