Human Resources Generalist

Position Overview:

 

The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting a wide range of HR functions across the organization. The position supports comprehensive HR functions, including facilitating end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes, and assisting with compensation and benefits administration to ensure compliance and competitiveness. The role also aids employee development and retention efforts, maintains HR systems and data integrity, and supports compliance and policy management. Additionally, the HR Generalist contributes to HR projects and provides backup support to the HR team, ensuring continuous and efficient HR operations.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Facilitate a seamless onboarding process for new hires and ensure a smooth offboarding process for departing employees. Ensures all HR documentation, orientation scheduling, and communication are completed efficiently.
  • Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Facilitate end-to-end recruitment activities by managing job postings, screening resumes, coordinating candidate assessments and interviews, and ensuring a seamless candidate experience throughout all stages. 
  • Compensation Administration: Assist with compensation data tracking and administration, salary adjustments, and benefits compliance. Support benchmarking, compensation structures, and the development of job leveling frameworks and job descriptions to ensure fair and competitive practices.
  • Benefits Administration: Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, answering questions, and ensuring compliance across health insurance, life/disability plans, FMLA, workers’ compensation, STD/LTD, and paid time off. Provide benefits guidance and support to employees, assisting in program coordination such as open enrollment, education, troubleshooting, and follow-up to ensure smooth benefits operations.
  • Employee Development & Retention: Assist in organizing and coordinating training programs and development initiatives, including managing coordination for sessions and workshops. Support documentation of development, track employee participation, and help measure program effectiveness. Assist with retention efforts, performance feedback, recognition processes, and maintain employee satisfaction records.
  • HR Systems & Data: Assist with updating HR systems, maintaining accurate employee data, and generating reports for analytics dashboards. Support data organization and analysis to ensure data integrity, track employee actions, and help drive HR metrics and operational improvements. Troubleshoot system issues to ensure smooth HR processes.
  • Employee Relations: Assist in employee relations by handling intake of employee concerns, scheduling meetings, maintaining confidential records, tracking case progress, and assisting with reporting and documentation to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
  • Compliance & Policy Management: Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies. Help maintain up-to-date HR policy and procedures documentation, and support legal compliance efforts, including assisting in the preparation and filing of regulatory reports such as the EEO-1, WC, etc.
  • HR Projects: Contribute to various HR projects, including wellness initiatives and process improvement efforts. Provide support for HR initiatives or company-wide programs as assigned.
  • HR Backup: Provides support to the HR team by assisting with day-to-day HR operations in the absence of HR staff members(s)

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a closely related field. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional-level human resource experience.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of HRIS, computers, and software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organization, time management, adaptability, flexibility, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team member.
  • Flexibility of schedule and willingness to work select evenings and/or weekends on occasion.
