MacDonald Training Center (MTC) is seeking an experienced HR Generalist who is passionate about employee engagement, organizational excellence, and maintaining a welcoming, service-oriented environment. This role is essential in supporting our workforce and ensuring compliance across key HR functions.

Position Summary
The HR Generalist performs a wide range of professional-level human resources duties, including benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, employment law compliance, HRIS management, training coordination, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as a key resource to team members and partners closely with the Chief HR & People Officer (CHRPO) to promote a positive, people-first culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Support & Engagement
- Provide welcoming, people-first assistance to all employees.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace environment.
HRIS & Records Management
- Work extensively within Paylocity to manage HRIS entries, employment changes, and document uploads.
- Manage Brivo assignments and ensure proper tracking of equipment in Paylocity.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant employee files, including current job descriptions.
Recruiting, Onboarding, Training & Compliance
- Recruiting and onboarding processes for staff positions, in addition to support for interns, and volunteers. Processing background checks and drug screening for new hires.
- Manage training processes for staff in service areas, track APD-required training, and assist with system automation. This includes coordinating training such as CPR/First Aid and defensive driving.
- Ensure compliance with APD, HIPAA, EEOC, Workers’ Compensation, and all federal and state labor laws.
- Assist CHRPO with annual performance evaluations and compliance audits.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer benefits and serve as liaison between employees and benefit vendors.
- Oversee FMLA, leaves of absence, STD, LTD, and Worker’s Compensation, ensuring timely processing and follow-up.
- Serve as the HR contact for benefit vendor billing and reconciliations.
- Perform biweekly 401(k) reconciliation post-payroll.
- Assist with open enrollment activities under the guidance of the CHRPO.
Wellness, Culture & Events
- Chair the annual Health Fair committee and coordinate wellness initiatives.
- Serve on the Employee Celebrations Team, assisting with employee events and recognition efforts.
- Support Development in ensuring volunteer screenings and required APD trainings are completed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support departmental procedures, audits, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Assists CHRPO in managing custodial staff (1).
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity in all HR functions.
- Complete filing, copying, scanning, and general administrative tasks as needed.
- Contribute to special projects and committee work as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional-level human resources experience.
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP certification is preferred.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of HR trends, best practices and regulations.
- Strong customer service with a people-first mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Experience with HRIS systems required; Paylocity experience preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office - intermediate in Word, Excel, Outlook required. Familiarity with databases, a plus.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Functions under timelines and being responsive.
- Excellent judgment, follow-through, flexibility, and attention to detail.
- Must pass a Level II fingerprinting/background check and drug screening.
Compensation: Up to the low $50K range depending on qualifications.
