Description

This hybrid position will be based out of our Salt Lake City location and will support sites in NV, NM, UT and West TX. Regular travel is required, including periodic travel to our corporate office in Houston, TX.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing various HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting all divisions of the company. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with local and regional management to ensure daily tasks are met which supports the organization’s operating strategy.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintains confidential personnel files with documentation such as on-boarding paperwork, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other miscellaneous documentation.
  • Perform E-Verify process on new hires and rehires to ensure employment eligibility; investigate and ensure proper notifications are delivered in a timely manner for all discrepancies with E-Verify results
  • Responsible for maintaining Applicant Tracking system; will also be responsible for posting positions on the company website.
  • Prepare offers of employment (offer letters) with supervision, as needed.
  • Provide advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues.
  • Process unemployment claims and assist in appeals when needed.
  • Completion of any HR related projects as requested.
  • Regional travel to locations in assigned territory on a weekly basis.
  • Additional travel to career fairs as needed, and to corporate office in Houston for department meetings

Education and/or Experience

  • High school education required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
