Description

The HR Generalist plays a key role in building and maintaining a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. This position provides both strategic and operational HR support to leaders and employees, partnering closely with management to address employee relations matters, guide performance and coaching discussions, and deliver HR programs that enhance the employee experience. Bilingual Spanish required for this position. 

This role is responsible for multiple HR functions, including recruiting, benefits and compensation administration, leave management, wellness programs, compliance, and policy management.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle recruiting process.
  • Administer leave management programs, including FMLA, ADA requests, and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Support the development and implementation of workplace safety programs, policies, and training to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Ensure HR processes and documentation comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements; participate in incident reporting and investigations as needed.
  • Oversee daily benefits administration (enrollment, midyear changes, employee inquiries) and partner with vendors to ensure timely, accurate service.
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and adherence to legal and company standards.
  • Deliver and support core HR programs, including onboarding, engagement surveys, recognition initiatives, and performance review cycles.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, sourcing ROI, turnover trends) to guide decision-making.
  • Plan and coordinate employee engagement activities, including managing AKG’s recognition program.
  • Use survey data, turnover metrics, and feedback to recommend initiatives that drive meaningful organizational change.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations while keeping policies and employee handbooks up to date.
  • Participate in leadership meetings to stay aligned with department and company priorities.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bilingual Spanish required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience in a small-to-mid-size company, preferably with an hourly workforce.
  • 2+ years of hands-on, full-cycle recruiting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • HRIS experience required; Paycom strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000 annually.

Job Type: Full-time

Location: In-office 5 days a week in Vernon Hills, IL
