Position Title:              HR Generalist

 

FLSA Status               Exempt/Professional  

 

Reports To:                 Human Resource Director

General Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing initiatives which result in effective recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention of Snyder Village employees.  This position will also coordinate and oversee ongoing employee education which meets applicable regulatory requirements. This position will actively research and apply best practices to achieve the primary objectives.

Job Responsibilities, Duties and Authority

  1. Research, plan, develop, recommend, and implement policies and activities designed to meet requirements of the General Description for this position.
  2. Ensure Snyder Village policies for interviewing, job shadowing and hiring are followed
  3. Track and run reports related to monthly applications, hiring, onboarding, and turnover.
  4. Oversee the applicant tracking system (ATS)
  5. Assist in the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting initial screenings, setting up interviews, and conducting reference/employment checks.
  6. Conduct background checks on new employees to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  7. Perform HR onboarding and update records of new employees
  8. Ensure employees are put into and removed from:  Dialmycalls, attendance tracker, Accushield, HealthStream, and other relevant systems.
  9. Conduct additional surveys per request of department and division directors.
  10. Ensure mentoring, onboarding and effective communication take place with new employees per policy. 
  11. Conduct new employee feedback surveys per policy and utilize results to improve processes.
  12. Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and other related training through Snyder Village’s learning platform to meet regulatory requirements and Snyder Village objectives.
  13. Coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in building employee relationships, leadership, and development efforts.
  14. Oversee the Snyder Village learning platform which includes putting new staff into the system, setting up required and requested training and running reports.
  15. Assist the HR Director when requested to perform routine tasks to administer and execute human resource programs including disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance management, recognition and benefits and leave.
  16. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  17. Participate in setting and carry out annual goals for position.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  1. Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the Snyder Village organization.
  2. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
  3. Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  4. Is involved with staff members, visitors, and others in a variety of conditions and circumstances.
  5. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset individuals.
  6. This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Some night and weekend work may be required.
  7. May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily in staff emergencies and to ensure proper care for all residents.
  8. Must be able to lift, pull, push, and move equipment, supplies, etc.


Qualifications

Minimum Training and Experience

  1. Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources with SHRM certification preferred. 
  2. Understanding of Human Resource processes and employment law.
  3. Prior recruiting experience preferred.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

It is Snyder Village's policy to provide its staff members with additional benefits. These benefits include paid time off, and affordable insurance, as well as many others.

Insurance Programs:

Health, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance are available to all full-time employees. Insurances will begin on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.

Health:

There are 2 options for medical insurance, a PPO, and a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The PPO offers a $1500 deductible with a max out-of-pocket of $4500. All preventative care services are covered at 100% by insurance. All generic prescriptions are a $10 copay. Most Carle providers would be in-network.

The HDHP plan offers $3,800 deductible with a max out-of-pocket of $6,100. All preventative care services are covered at 100% by insurance. Most Carle providers would be in-network. This plan also works with our Health Savings account.

Health Savings Account:

Snyder Village offers a health savings account through EPIC! If a staff member is contributing to the H.S.A. Snyder Village (SV) will also contribute to their balance. SV offers $0.50 for every $1 a staff member contributes up to $1300 per year.

Dental:

Dental coverage is through the Guardian network. Offering a deductible of $50 for in-network services and 100% covered preventative care services.

Vision:

VSP coverage is through Guardian but with the VSP network. Exams are a $10 copay with any in-network provider. Exams are covered once every 12 months, lenses once every 12 months, and frames are covered once every 24 months.

Basic Life and AD&D:

Any staff member who enrolls in medical coverage will receive $10000 in company-paid life insurance and AD&D through Guardian.

Voluntary Life Insurance:

Through Guardian staff members may select additional life insurance for themselves, their spouse, or their children. A staff member can select a policy for themselves in $25000, $50000, $75000, or $100000. Spousal coverage can be selected for up to 50% of employee coverage. Coverage for children can be selected for each child up to $10000.

Short-Term Disability:

Short Term Disability insurance is provided through AFLAC. The plan is designed to replace part of a staff members’ paycheck in the case of an illness, injury or surgery that prevents you from working according to the doctor’s orders. Staff members receive approximately 60% of their gross pay.

401k:

All staff members are automatically enrolled to the 401k retirement program through Empower on their 91st day of employment at 3% of their salary. However, Snyder Village will contribute and match an employee’s contribution by up to 5% on their salary. An employee is considered fully vested after 3 years of employment.

Paid holidays

Snyder Village recognizes seven holidays as listed below:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Any non-exempt staff member working on the holiday will receive time and one-half of their hourly straight pay.

Paid Time Off

Paid Time Off (PTO) is offered to full-time and part-time workers who work more than 20 hours per week. All newly hired staff members accrue up to 2 weeks or 80 hours of PTO.

Paid Personal Days

All staff members regardless of classification accrue paid personal days (PPD). Each staff member accrues up to 40 hours of PPD.

Sick Pay

Once a full-time staff member has completed 1 year of employment, they are given 80 hours of sick time to use for a serious illness requiring more than 5 days off from work.

 

Tuition Reimbursement

Snyder Village values the professional and personal development of our staff members. Tuition reimbursement is available for education expenses such as course fees, technical training, certification programs, or other needed resources. Reimbursement will also be provided for successful certificate completion, up to six-course hours per semester.

Scholarship

Snyder Village provides up to 2 nursing scholarships per year to staff members pursuing an RN or LPN degree. Snyder Village also provides up to 4 C.N.A. scholarships per year to staff members who are pursuing a certified nursing assistant degree.
