Job Overview
The HR Generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations and retention, training, onboarding, benefit management, and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate and employee needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Employee Relations
Support Employee Relations to improve HR functions across Tweezerman International.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations
- Works with the Associate Director on employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints
- Conducts employee surveys
- Make recommendations on how we can improve employee benefits/perks that will keep us competitive
Recruiting/Onboarding
Manages the internal recruiting and onboarding process from start to finish.
- Post positions, interviews, screens and recruits job applicants to fill job openings
- Coordinate and manage interview process for candidates applying for a position with Tweezerman International
- Request and process background checks for all applicants eligible for employment
- Provide best in class onboarding and benefit orientation
- Ensure proper new hire paperwork is complete and updated into ADP System
- Ensure all new hires are setup across all internal platforms and login information is provided where applicable
- Assist the Associate Director in the processing of Visas for eligible prospective applicants
Personnel
Works closely with Associate Director and Payroll to manage the employee life cycle for all personnel.
- Assist with the annual review process
- Maintain human resource information system (ADP) records and compiles reports from the database
- Author all internal organizational announcements and maintains company organization charts
- Assist with time off requests and manage Time Off Policies and accruals at year end
Benefit Administration
Key point of contact for all employee inquiries related to all benefit programs and offerings.
- Lead benefit orientation meetings including preparing benefits enrollment communications to eligible employees
- Assist Associate Director with all Open Enrollment activities annually
- When needed, support Payroll in the processing of monthly billing for all employee benefits, such as: Medical & Dental Insurance; Vision, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability & Life Insurance coverage
- Ensure proper enrollments are processed with insurance companies and coordinated with payroll
- Provide reporting from ADP when requested and required
- Prepare and process all required documentation for those employees applying for benefits such as Workers Compensation, New York State Disability, NY Paid Family Leave, and/or FMLA.
Safety
Assist Operations team to ensure that TWI is complying with OSHA and internal safety policies.
- Be an active participant on the company Safety Committee, assisting in running monthly meetings with warehouse management, HR and Safety Captains
- Manage safety training system, including new and annual enrollments
- Host live safety trainings when required
Other
- Support the coordination of all company events and present ideas on how to provide the best experience for employees
- Participate in departmental meetings and attend other company meetings and seminars
- Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services provided
- Translate to Spanish any documentation required to be presented and comprehended by the employees
- Complete any special project assigned by the Associate Director
- Stay abreast of federal, state and local employment and benefit laws and regulations and disseminates the information to Associate Director for appropriate implementation
- Ensure all compliance components are being met regarding safety, onboarding, new hires, terminations, and all policies for TWI
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required preferable in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience required
- Fluent in Spanish highly preferred
- HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred
- Capable of working in a diverse and inclusive environment, effectively communicating and collaborating cross functionally and at all levels within the organization
- Ability to handle confidential information and keep composure
- Proficient on MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task with a keen attention to detail
- Experience with HRIS required, ADP Workforce Now preferred
Working Conditions
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. It involves finger and wrist dexterity with repetitive motion. Individuals must be able to handle a high volume of phone calls per day and emails. This position also requires the ability to move about the building, stand bend, and lift items of up to 15 lbs.
