Job Title: Human Resources Generalist                                     FLSA/Grade: Exempt/Salary

Reports to: Human Resources Manager                                      Department: Human Resources


Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functioning areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance by performing the following duties.

The position of Human Resources Generalist is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be entitled to overtime compensation for more than 40 hours worked in any one work week. 

The Human Resources Generalist shall be accountable and supervised by the Human Resources Manager.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodation(s) may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Perform general administrative tasks to support the HR department
  • Act as the point of contact for employee inquiries.
  • Extensively recruit, onboard and schedule interviews as needed.
  • Maintenance of time clock, PTO calendar, and ADP Workforce Now portal. 
  • Maintain and organize employee’s physical and digital personnel files, including creating new files for new hires, placement in correct location, daily/weekly filing of paperwork, DOT files, and confidential medical information. 
  • Process employment verifications by phone, fax, e-mail and/or mail.
  • Run Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) and Background Checks.
  • Provide assistance with employees’ disability, FMLA and Workers’ Comp claims.
  • Collaborate with management to create job descriptions.
  • Create HR monthly newsletter.
  • Write daily Union employee’s disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Misc. payroll reports (as requested).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a HR Generalist role required
  • Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now and/or any other payroll system
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred
  • Strong Written and Communication Skills
  • Familiarity with HR Compliance and HR Policies and Regulations
  • Time Management
