Description

The People & Culture Generalist is responsible for providing HR support to Co-op employees across various business units. Responsibilities will include leave administration, recruiting, new hire paperwork at orientation, assisting with on-boarding of new employees, and setting up new employees in HRIS.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (not an all inclusive list)

  1. Manage employment application system/process
  2. Work with hiring managers and HR staff complete the hiring process
  3. Place job postings/advertising
  4. Perform pre-screen interviews
  5. Complete background checks and employment verifications as applicable
  6. Complete new hire paperwork in compliance with employment regulations
  7. Prepare and present job offer letters to potential hires
  8. Enter new hire data into the HRIS, ensuring accuracy
  9. Act as HR liaison to the JLMC
  10. Complete termination paperwork and HRIS entries
  11. Perform exit interviews; collate and distribute results
  12. Support employees who go out on medical leave with FMLA, ADA and/or STD
  13. Track leaves of absence
  14. Calculate department specific metrics
  15. Act as backup for payroll
  16. Act as a backup for benefits presentation at orientation
  17. Act as a backup for orientation
  18. Order office supplies for all locations, and other supplies as requested
  19. Sort and distribute mail for all locations


Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  2. 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience
  3. Recruiting experience strongly preferred
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Strong understanding of the need for tact, discretion, and confidentiality in communication
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be effective at all organizational levels
  7. Able to quickly establish credibility
  8. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  9. Flexible, supportive, and adaptive to changes
  10. Good understanding of software systems/processes
  11. Working knowledge of Employment Law, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, Workman’s Compensation and other aspects of employment
  12. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  13. Strong attention to detail
  14. Excellent follow through
